Ali Wallace Goes For Miss America Taking Brain Champions To Atlantic City

Our very own Alexis “Ali” Wallace was recently named Miss Portland and went on to win the Title of Miss Oregon.  She will now compete for Miss America in Atlantic City this weekend.  The former High School Cheer Leader was injured during her competition as a Cheerleader at Sunset High School when she landed on a non-padded surface doing a round off back tuck.

Ali Wallace works in the Brain Injury Awareness and Education arena and is a founding member of Brain Champions!

Battling back Ali joined us for our Brain Champions founding weekend and went on to lobby for better safety standards in Cheer and worked with her athletic director to make sure all girls received a pre-season baseline concussion test through ImPACT.  This was a huge victory for Ali and the girls.  Her work continues all the way to Miss America where Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness is her National platform.

If she win Miss America Ali will have one of the biggest stages in the world from which to carry out the Mission of Brain Champions- to protect and educate all K-12 athletes and their parents and coaches.

We want YOU TO HELP her make the Main Stage by voting for Ali on Twitter and Facebook.  Once per day you can vote by posting on your Twitter or your Facebook wal a little blurb and “#MissAmericaVote Oregon no Quotes-    PLEASE HELP!  This girl is truly a star!  Her story in Video is set in the section below.

I thrived from a 3-month coma in 1977 & know you can achieve all that you conceive. The state of Arkansas & federal government told me I could never teach because of my 24 cognitive challenges (brain injuries) on their non-accessible campus (illegal), whom I was recruited by the Wal Mart, Pilot Club, && Southern Arkansas University Foundations (SAU). I was appointed by the mayor of Magnolia Wheatley as National Organization on Disability appointee for the Community Program Partnership to ensure all communities were accessible by 1998. SAU did not start working on accessibility until late 1997, after I had fallen & hit my head on steps, walls, grounds, ice, pavement, etc., 24 times. These 24 blows which I’ve documented as does my doctors have doubled to 55. Will anyone state up for me? My program “Challenged Conquistadors, Inc.” was nominated for an ethics fellowship to Harvard by SAU. Also a teaching certificate from Governor’s Commission on People with Disabilities , & referenced to H, Gardner’s book of Harvard The Unschooled Mind, I got to speak as lead presenter and keynote speaker was Howard Gardner of Harvard at the Kappa Delta Pi International Honors Conference in 1995.
